About
Green Ant is a Territory owned and operated service provider offering individualised, therapeutic and person-centred capacity building supports to people with disability, their advocates and support teams.
About Annie
Hello and Welcome!
Green Ant Person-Centred Practice was established in 2022 and is led by me, Annie.
Born in the Northern Territory and now based in Darwin, I have been working closely with people with disability and their advocates since 2012, both internationally and across a broad range of roles and settings in Australia.
I am a qualified and registered Developmental Educator, one of the only registered Developmental Educators (DE’s) currently practicing in the Northern Territory! DE’s are transdisciplinary disability specialists who provide therapeutic, educational and advocacy supports to people with disability and their support networks. Our profession focuses on promoting participation, inclusion, independence, self-determination, and self-advocacy, with the ultimate goal of enhancing wellbeing, fulfilment, and quality of life.
I also hold a Masters Degree in Disability Policy and Practice from Flinders University and am a registered Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

The NDIS
Most clients supported by Green Ant are NDIS participants.
In the NDIS Price Guide, you will find Developmental Education listed under ‘capacity building’ (therapy) supports. Our services are billed through clients’ capacity building budgets. Following a referral, we will meet with you to discuss your support needs and tailor a service agreement that aligns with your NDIS plan goals and budget.

Person-centered practice
As the name suggests, person-centered practice is something I value immensely and that underpins many of the therapeutic, support and business related decisions that I make.
Using a strengths-based and collaborative approaches, the Green Ant way is to:
Embed person-centered planning and approaches into practice
Work flexibly to meet the needs of the individual at the centre of support
Draw upon the lived experiences, expertise, values and preferences of clients
Empower and promote the rights of the people we support
Collaborate and problem-solve alongside clients, families and support teams
Make and promote adjustments to promote access, inclusion and participation for all clients
Incorporate systemic advocacy and broader education for families, caregivers and communities into practice
Be creative and innovative in the development of individualised programs
